The Department of Computer Science in the College of Science of Evangel University, Akaeze in Ebonyi State - Nigeria was established in April 2017 following the approval by National Universities Commission (NUC) after a successful Resource Verification visit to the University. The Department started at the take-off campus Km. 45 Enugu-Abakaliki Express way Evangel Camp Okpoto in 2016/2017 academic session with 11 students in the admission list. The Department offers a four year Full-time programme that leads to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Science through course work and project report.

Philosophy
The philosophy of the Computer Science department is to stand on the platform created by the university to train the total man by exposing them to the foundation of total man principles through general studies courses, basic science and technology principles and techniques, in-depth aspects of mathematical science; in order to develop in the students critical and strategic skills for self fulfilment through qualitative, comprehensive and functional IT education.

Aim
The aim of Computer Science Department is to produce self-reliant graduates with requisite IT knowledge and skills to proffer workable solutions to local, national and global problems using state-of-the-art tools.

Objectives
Our objectives among other things include to:

1. Produce graduate Entrepreneurs who are job creators both in Information Technology domain and any other discipline.

2. Produce graduates who can professionally analyse given problems, propose, design and deploy workable solutions for individuals and corporate organizations.

3. Establish appropriate linkages with industries and relevant institutions for training, research and innovations.

4. Create in the student a broad IT knowledge and skills that stimulate the desire for further studies in computer science as a multidisciplinary subject leveraging on Information Technology.

5. Equip the graduates with the capacity for professional practice in local production and maintenance of IT products and equipment that can compete globally.
